The Legislative Year In Review

How much did the government interfere under the hood and in the garage in 2011?  Very little.  But it wasn’t for lack of trying.  Check out the issues that mattered to the HVA and its members in 2011.

Ethanol, emissions, usage restrictions, and higher registration fees: these were some of the hot legal matters concerning historic vehicle enthusiasts this past year.  Thankfully, due to the coordinated and strategic efforts of hundreds of clubs and collectors, all of the anti-hobby bills were defeated and we even managed to gain ground in a few states.

Looking Ahead

No doubt, the coming year will see the HVA’s legislative team following many of these same key issues: ethanol, emissions, registration, etc. The only bright side is that, being an election year, legislators will not likely be as busy on issues that don’t ensure a buzz of positive headlines.
