The criteria for inclusion on the National Historic Vehicle Register focus on the vehicle’s informational value, association with a historically significant person or event, or design innovation. As our prototype project for the Register, we chose a vehicle that fulfills all of these guidelines: the revolutionary, record-breaking Shelby Daytona Coupe, CSX2287. To properly document the physical aspects of the Shelby Daytona Coupe, the team from the Department of the Interior visited the Simeone Automotive Museum, where the car currently resides. This was made possible by the generosity and cooperation of the museum management and staff. The photos below illustrate the documentation process.
