Our latest vehicle to be added to the National Historic Vehicle Register, a Volkswagen Type 2 Deluxe Station Wagon (Microbus) owned by civil rights pioneers Esau & Janie B. Jenkins, will be shown at the annual Audi Club Nationals this Saturday, October 19th, in Leesburg, VA!
The “Microbus” will be accompanied by Diane Parker, Vice President of the HVA, to tell the story of the vehicle during its ownership of the Jenkins family, the process of excavating the vehicle, the conservation efforts it has undergone for public display, and documenting it for the National Historic Vehicle Register. The Jenkins VW will be displayed alongside the original wheels that it wore for the 40 years it sat in the backyard of the Jenkins family before being excavated by the HVA team this past March.
The event will be held at the Lansdowne Resort & Spa in Leesburg, VA from 9am-4pm with the Diane Parker’s talk on the Jenkins VW being held at 1:00pm. For more information, visit the Audi Club National’s event page here.
