Gessler and famed racer, Luciano Viario, take 2nd at the Mille Miglia. Gessler made history with his 1933 Alfa Romeo 6C Gran Sport 1500 TF Zagato and his 2nd place finish by becoming the highest finishing American in the long and storied history of the Mille Miglia. The race is a European style “regularity race” requiring the drivers of authentic vintage racers to go 1000 miles in 48 hours from the north of Italy to Rome and back. Gessler was part of the Sports-Hagerty team which fielded two other finishes.
