At this year’s Ford Nationals held in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, the THIS CAR MATTERS Award went to Harry Overholtzer and his 1930 Ford Model A, a car that has been in his family since his father purchased it back in 1936.
San Marino Motor Classic
Over at the San Marino Motor Classic in San Marino, California, the THIS CAR MATTERS Award went to a 1933 Lincoln V-12 Dual Cowl Phaeton owned by Howard Henkels of Arcadia, California, while the FIVA Preservation Award went to the 1930 Cadillac V-16 once owned by Al Capone, now owned by Michael Harrah of Santa Ana.
Ault Park Concours
Back in the Midwest, this year’s Ault Park Concours, which saw attendance of more than 5,000, featured a 1907 Locomobile that took home the FIVA Preservation Award.
The Elegance At Hershey
At this year’s Elegance At Hershey, the HVA’s THIS CAR MATTERS award went to a 1911 Packard Model 30 Touring (one of just 12 known survivors) owned by Michael DeAngelis. The FIVA/HVA Preservation Award went to a 1925 Packard Model 2-36 Sport Coupe by Merrimac owned by Stephen and Susan Babinsky.
Sloan Auto Fair
Back in Michigan, Flint’s Sloan Museum hosted its annual Auto Fair. Taking home the HVA’s THIS CAR MATTERS award was this 1963 Mustang II prototype from the Detroit Historical Society.
And last, but certainly not least, at the GM Nationals the THIS CAR MATTERS Award went to the 1966 Pontiac GTO Monkeemobile, one of two built for The Monkees television show by famed hotrod and custom builder Dean Jeffries.
