Momentum is finally building to set the record straight about ethanol. Last month, the Association of International Automobile Manufacturers, Inc. filed a petition challenging the EPA’s decision to allow the sale of gasoline containing 15-percent ethanol for 2007 model-year and newer passenger vehicles. Find out how the HVA is working with them and what may be next for ethanol in 2011.
The Historic Vehicle Association continues its aggressive efforts to block E15 fuel from appearing at a pump near you.
Recently, HVA representatives consulted with attorneys from the Association of International Automobile Manufacturers about the lawsuit the organization recently filed against the EPA over E15 fuel.
The HVA has submitted formal written comments to the EPA to register our strong opposition to the E15 waiver and to the proposed labeling rules. We were clear about the damage ethanol-based fuel causes in our historic vehicles and that the proposed labeling laws would do little to prevent the wrong fuel from ending up in the wrong gas tanks. In addition to our EthaNO petition initiative, we have created more resources on our EthaNO page to keep you armed and informed. These new resources include:
- A Guide to Ethanol Labeling Requirements in all 50 states
- A sample letter that can be sent to Congress urging them to hold hearings and take action
- Downloadable Flyer: E15 Fuel- Field of Myths, Not Facts
- Pre-formatted EthaNO stickers that can be easily printed out for your next club meeting or event
Please forward this information to your club officers and legislative directors, and anyone else you know who cares about preserving our right to have access to compatible fuel and to not have our choices dictated by the government and special interest groups.
