Dollars for Education

In 2011, the Collectors Foundation awarded $289,762 in grants and scholarships to education facilities and technical colleges with hands-on programs focused on historic vehicle and classic boat restoration. Check out the list of recipients and find out how your school can apply in 2012.

Since 2005, people with a passion for historic vehicle and boat preservation have been putting their money where their heart is, and that combined effort is paying off. Donors concerned with the future of classic vehicles and boats are the reason why the Collectors Foundation has been able to give away over $2 million dollars in grants and scholarships since the group’s founding.

Thanks to the Collector’s Foundation:

  • Roughly three dozen scholarships are awarded annually to students enrolled in post-secondary study of rod and custom building, restoration technology and transportation design.
  • Each year, over 110 at-risk students are being mentored by historic vehicle enthusiasts.
  • Each school day, 1,000 high school auto tech students are using specialty equipment purchased with grant funds.
  • Annually, more than 50,000 school-age children visit some of the country’s best automotive and boat museums, where they receive integrated lessons in art, history and technology built around historic vehicles and supported by grants from the Foundation.
  • Automotive and marine libraries have also been awarded grants from the Foundation to preserve valuable literature and documentation.
