Remember when growing up in Iowa in the late 50's someone at our church in Cedar Rapids Iowa had a Tucker. Remember seeing that pull up in front of the church and letting people out. Unfortunately I had no idea who they were, but even then that car really caught my interest!! Still does!!

I would add one more Vehicle to this list. It would be a Willys CJ simply because it started the trend to 4 wheel drive vehicles.

  3. Ed Roberts California

Significantly missing: 1941-1945 Ford/Willys Jeep, with a nod to Bantam What's up with that?

I think those cars are really nice. I remember the Citi Car electric vehicle.

  5. John Whitton Ballston Lake, NY

It would have been wonderful to have complete photos of the interiors and exteriors of these wonderful cars. There cars are so rare!

It is good to see the Historic Vehicle Assoc. efforts to recognize the Citicar EV as a historical significant Electric Car for USA. This car was manufactured in Sebring, FL by Sebring Vanguard Inc. The cars were made 38 years before current EV manufacturing began. The pioneering efforts of the President of Sebring Vanguard, Mr. Robert G. Beaumont, were indeed instrumental to bring awarenes that most vehicle miles traveled are 40 miles a day or less. So a small Electric vehicle for City Use would cut our oil dependencies significantly... Over 2500 of these vehicles were sold in th 1970's.... Later, the ComutaCar EV was made in Sebring, FL by CVI Inc. Again abut 2500 more all Electric vehicles were made in the 1979 - 1982 timeframe. Many of these early EVs are still being used today for City; short range travel. My hat is tipped to Thank Mr. Beaumont for his vision on City Type EV's and his untiring efforts to get this type of vehicle Made in America to reduce oil dependency and allow economical urban transportation via Electric Vehicles.
