The National Historic Vehicle Register

The Historic Vehicle Association has developed a National Historic Vehicle Register to carefully and accurately document America’s most historically significant automobiles, motorcycles, trucks and commercial vehicles.

In March 2013, the HVA entered into a collaboration with the U.S. Department of the Interior to explore how vehicles important in American and automotive history could be effectively documented and recognized. This project is the first of its type to create a permanent archive of significant historic automobiles within the Library of Congress.

About the HVA

Over the last 125 years the adoption of the automobile has had a profound impact on the development of virtually every aspect of modern culture. The cars, motorcycles and trucks that remain chronicle our past and help us understand who we are, where we have been and where we may be headed. As a society, we have an obligation to preserve these historic vehicles and related artifacts as a lasting record of our progress. Through the collective efforts of enthusiasts, specialists and professionals, the HVA aims to help ensure that our automotive heritage is more broadly appreciated and carefully preserved for future generations.

With over 495,000 members, the HVA is the world’s largest historic vehicle owners’ organization. The HVA was founded in 2009 through the philanthropic support of Hagerty and became the designated North American representative of FIVA (Fédération International des Véhicules Anciens), the international federation of historic vehicle organizations.

Drive History Conference

A Celebration of Automotive Heritage and Culture.

The annual Drive History Conference is one of the most important initiatives at the Historic Vehicle Association (HVA). It is our way of bringing together a diverse audience to not only share in the history and preservation of our national automotive heritage, but to exchange ideas and learn from one another.

As much as we care about sharing automotive heritage, we care more deeply about the well-being of our speakers, registrants, sponsors, vendors, and team members. After careful assessment, we have decided to proactively cancel our 2021 Drive History Conference.

We are hopeful and look forward to hosting our Drive History Conference again in 2021!
