Congratulations, Award Winners!
From March 7-10, the HVA attended the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance in Amelia Island, Florida. We would like to congratulate the winners of the This Car Matters Award and the FIVA Trophy. Check out our photos of the winners and find out about their exceptional vehicles.
This Car Matters Award
The This Car Matters Award for “one of the most historically important automobiles on the field” was presented by Mark Gessler, president of the Historic Vehicle Association, to Jim Glickenhaus of New York, New York for his 1967 Ford GT40 Mk IV. This car (known as “J6”) was the fourth-place car at the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in 1967 and was driven by Bruce McLaren and Mark Donahue. This was the car’s only race.
The FIVA Trophy for the most well-preserved vehicle was presented by Horst Brüning, president of the Fédération Internationale des Véhiclules Anciens (FIVA), to Jim and Cindy Griggs of Panama City, Florida for their 1907 Holsman High-Wheeler. Holsman built automobiles in Chicago, Illinois between 1901 and 1910. The company was a pioneer in the development of the high-wheel carriage-type vehicles.
