The mission of the Legislative Commission is to study, assess and proactively represent the owners of historic vehicles in their right to use, repair and restore their vehicles, and engage in affiliated businesses, in the United States and Canada.

Created with input from HVA members, the Legislative Commission is a network of advocates that engages with legislators and lobbyists on a national provincial and state level in the US, and Canada to secure exemptions for historic vehicles and to ensure that historic vehicle owners are able to freely enjoy their vehicles with the least amount of regulatory interference.

Initiatives Include:

  • National & State/Provencal Legislation – Monitors and mobilizes membership, public and bureaucratic support for legislation favorable to historic vehicles, while blocking legislation detrimental to these interests.
  • Model Legislation – Develops, promotes and enacts new legislation favorable to the interests of historic vehicle enthusiasts, owners, dealers, repair and restoration shops, parts manufacturers and specialty service providers.
